6 Week Pottery Wheel Course - 6pm to 9pm - Wednesday 26 February to Wednesday 2 April
In this series of SIX classes we welcome both beginner and intermediate level students.
Join us to learn the basics of wheel throwing, trimming, design and glaze decoration under the expert guidance of Sophia of @houndceramics, one of Perths top ceramicists.
Complete Beginners Welcome!
For intermediate or returning students, we will challenge you with new ideas and forms and will work with you to refine your work.
We welcome functional and sculptural designs - bring your ideas and we will help you realise them! You will become hooked on the endless creative possibilities of ceramic design.
The dates for this workshop are as follows:
- Wednesday 26 February 6pm to 9pm
- Wednesday 5 March 6pm to 9pm
- Wednesday 12 March 6pm to 9pm
- Wednesday 19 March 6pm to 9pm
- Wednesday 26 March 6pm to 9pm
- Wednesday 2 April 6pm to 9pm - Glaze Night!
Please note this is a SIX part workshop, therefore you will get the most out of this course if you attend all the dates.
In weeks 1 to 5 you will learn to throw on the pottery wheel to create your pieces, and then trim your pieces to perfect them.
This will include a variety of different throwing and trimming techniques.
In week 6 you will be expertly guided through glazing the pieces yourself, using a range of our luxurious studio glazes.
From this series of classes you can expect to receive approximately 10 completed items, which will be ready for collection approximately 4 weeks after the completion of your course.
We keep our classes small to ensure each student gets sufficient time with the tutor, which also means they sell out fast so don’t wait to grab your spot!
We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty, as wheel work can get a bit messy!
It is also advisable to bring an old towel and apron and bucket.
Please wear closed toe shoes.
The course price of $490 covers:
- x6 workshops of approximately 3 hours each,
- Your very own 10kg bag of Walkers #10 clay,
- Expert tuition through the throwing, trimming and glazing processes,
- All the tools and glaze you will need,
- The firing of your pieces and
- Lights refreshments at each class.
In the case that you are not able to attend a workshop in weeks 1 to 5, in some circumstances and only at managements discretion, we may be able to fit you into an alternate workshop. Please note make-up workshops are not guaranteed therefore we recommend you pop all the workshop dates in your diary as we do not send out weekly workshop reminders. There is a maximum of 1 make-up per workshop participant per course.
